Mass recruiter vs product-based companies for freshers
Mass recruiters — TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Capgemini, Accenture, HCL — hire thousands of freshers each year through drives like TCS NQT and campus hiring, on a set package band. Product-based companies hire far fewer freshers, often on higher packages, and filter more on DSA and projects. Both value aptitude, coding basics and clear communication, but the bar and the preparation time differ.
| Track | Who it suits | How they hire | What matters most |
|---|---|---|---|
| Service-based / mass recruiter | Most B.E., B.Tech, MCA, BCA, B.Sc graduates; many branches | Large drives (NQT, campus), aptitude + basic coding + communication, then HR | 60% criteria, the drive’s backlog rule (many allow no pending backlog), clear basics, one or two projects |
| Product-based | Fewer roles; stronger DSA and projects help | DSA rounds, system design for some roles, then technical and HR | Strong DSA, projects with depth, computer science fundamentals, internships |

What “mass recruiter” means
Companies that hire a large number of freshers each year from many colleges are often called mass recruiters. Students often ask “mass recruiter ka aptitude cutoff kitna hota hai?” and “service based vs product based me kaunsi better hai fresher ke liye growth kisme hai”. This guide explains how these companies hire, what to prepare and how to choose a role.
Examples students name most: TCS NQT (the integrated test for TCS), Infosys (HackWithInfy and campus hiring), Wipro (Elite, Turbo and WILP), Cognizant GenC (GenC, GenC Pro, GenC Next and Analyst Trainee), Capgemini Exceller, Accenture campus hiring and HCL.
Aptitude cutoff — what students ask
Students often ask “cutoff kitna hota hai?” No mass-recruiter company publishes a section-wise or overall cutoff in advance — they list eligibility and the test pattern but not a score to clear. Accenture’s campus portal says you need to clear a cut-off in each section to move ahead. TCS’s NQT page and Wipro’s and Capgemini’s pages describe eligibility (marks and backlog rules) rather than a score cutoff. If a coaching site quotes a number, treat it as an estimate from past drives — it is not the company’s published rule.
Service-based vs product-based for a fresher
- Learning: service-based roles often put you on varied client projects; product-based roles often go deeper into one product and its scale. Both teach, but the shape differs.
- Growth and pay: product-based fresher packages are often higher on day one, but both tracks depend on what you build in the first two years. Mass-recruiter packages are set by band and are published at offer time; they vary by company and year, so check your offer letter, not a 2023 blog post.
- Ask yourself: do you want breadth early (many domains) or depth early (one product)? Either path lets you move later with strong work to show.
How to prepare when you have weeks, not months
- Weeks 1–2: aptitude first. Numerical, reasoning and verbal — the same in TCS Foundation (75 minutes), Wipro Elite and Capgemini’s aptitude round. Practise 45 minutes a day with a timer.
- Weeks 2–4: coding basics. Arrays, strings, hashing, greedy and simple dynamic programming. These cover most mass-recruiter coding rounds. See TCS NQT and Infosys and Accenture for 20 practice problems with tested code.
- Week 4 onward: communication and HR. One project you can explain, one internship or team story, and 60-second HR answers. See 20 HR questions with Hinglish.
- System design for freshers? Service-based rounds almost never ask it. Product-based rounds may, for some roles. See System design for freshers.
Test patterns above come from each company’s own page, checked on 20 October 2026: TCS’s All India NQT hiring page, Accenture’s campus hiring portal, Wipro’s early careers page, Cognizant’s GenC programme page and Capgemini’s recruitment process. Rules change with each drive.
Eligibility at a glance (varies by drive)
- TCS NQT (2024–2026 batches): 60% or equivalent CGPA in Class 10, 12, diploma if any, graduation and post-graduation if any (TCS’s FAQ converts CGPA by multiplying by 10; other companies may use your university’s formula); no pending backlog; gap of at most 24 months; 18–28 years.
- Wipro (Elite 2023, Turbo/WILP 2025 pages): 60% or 6.0 CGPA in 10, 12 and graduation; one pending backlog allowed at assessment, to be cleared by the final semester.
- Capgemini (2022 engineering drive): 60% in diploma and graduation; no backlog at the time of the process; up to 1 year of gap between stages.
- Accenture and Infosys: eligibility depends on the job listing; Accenture’s portal says to check each listing.

Questions
mass recruiter ka aptitude cutoff kitna hota hai?
Companies rarely publish a single cutoff in advance. Accenture’s campus portal says you must clear a cut-off in each section to move ahead. TCS, Wipro and Capgemini describe eligibility and test patterns rather than a score cutoff. Treat numbers on coaching sites as estimates from past drives, not a rule for your drive.
service based vs product based me kaunsi better hai fresher ke liye growth kisme hai
Service-based roles often give breadth early (many client projects); product-based roles often give depth (one product at scale). Fresher packages are set by the company and vary by year. Growth on either track comes from what you build in the first two years.
fresher se system design puchenge kya product based interview me
For most mass-recruiter service-based rounds, no. For some product-based or higher-band fresher roles, short system design or design basics can appear. For a fresher, study scalability basics, a URL shortener and a rate limiter in 2–3 days and skip deep internals. See System design for freshers.
Wipro Elite NTH ka aptitude cut off kitna hota hai tier 3 college ke liye
Wipro does not publish a Tier-3-specific cutoff. Its campus pages describe eligibility (60% or 6.0 CGPA, backlog and gap rules) and the assessment shape; cutoffs, where used, are not published in advance.
Is Savyly useful for mass-recruiter preparation?
Yes, for practice. Savyly’s DSA & Coding mode explains any problem from your screen, and /practice runs mock interviews with feedback. It is for learning and preparation; use it before the test, not during a company assessment.
