Get started
Before you startA Mac with M1 or newer (macOS 13+), or 64-bit Windows 10 (1809+) or 11, plus internet.
Savyly is a desktop app. It needs:
- Mac: Apple silicon (M1 or newer) and macOS 13 Ventura or later. Intel Macs aren't supported.
- Windows: Windows 10 (version 1809 or newer) or 11, 64-bit. To stay hidden on screen share, Windows 10 needs version 2004 or newer, which almost every PC already has.
- Internet: answers come from the internet, so Savyly needs a connection while you use it.
Savyly doesn't run on phones or tablets.
Not sure which Mac you have? Click the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. If Chip says Apple M1 (or M2, M3, M4…), you're good.
Install SavylyOpen Savyly.dmg, drag Savyly to Applications, then click Open Anyway once.Run SavylySetup.exe. If Windows asks, click More info → Run anyway once.
- Download Savyly for Mac from savyly.com. You get
Savyly.dmg. - Open it and drag Savyly onto Applications.
- Open Savyly from Applications, or press ⌘Space and type Savyly.
- The first time only, macOS says “Savyly” Not Opened. Click Done. Press ⌘Space, type Privacy & Security and press Enter. Scroll down and click Open Anyway next to Savyly, then Open Anyway again. Enter your Mac password or use Touch ID if asked.
Savyly opens. You can now eject the Savyly disk in the Finder sidebar and delete Savyly.dmg.
Always open Savyly from Applications, not from the Savyly disk window or your Downloads folder. Otherwise it can disappear when the disk is ejected, and it can't update itself.
Why does macOS ask? Savyly is new and not yet notarized by Apple, so macOS checks with you once. It's safe, and you only do it once: updates install without asking again.
- Download Savyly for Windows from savyly.com. You get
SavylySetup.exe. - Open it. If Windows says Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway.
- Click through the installer and click Finish. Savyly opens.
No administrator password is needed: Savyly installs just for you. Find it any time in the Start menu under Savyly.
Why does Windows ask? Savyly is new, so Windows SmartScreen doesn't know it yet. It's safe, and you only do it once: updates install without asking again.
First launchAgree to the Terms, allow two permissions, click Start assistant.Agree to the Terms and click Start assistant. Nothing to allow.
- Agree to the Terms. Tick I agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy and click Continue. Your free trial is ready.
- Allow access (Mac only). On Get started, click Allow next to each permission, then switch Savyly on in the list that opens. It's already in the list, so there's no need for +.
- Accessibility lets your Savyly keys work in every app.
- Screen & System Audio Recording (called Screen Recording on older macOS) lets Savyly read your screen and hear your computer's sound. Use the list at the top, not “System Audio Recording Only”. After switching it on, click Restart assistant (or Stop assistant, then Start assistant).
- Nothing to allow on Windows. Savyly works right away.
- Click Start assistant. It usually takes a few seconds. When it's ready, the Savyly window closes and the floating window appears near the top of your screen.
- Press ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace in any app to show or hide it.
Two windows, one app
- The floating window is the small dark window where you ask and get answers. It floats over your apps.
- The Savyly window has Get started, Modes, Phone, Shortcuts, Plans and Help. Open it any time by opening Savyly again from Applications or Spotlightthe Start menu.
Savyly has no Dock icontaskbar button and no menu bar icontray icon, so nothing shows until you press ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace.
Your first answerType it, answer your screen, or answer what's said.
Press ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace to show Savyly, then ask in any of three ways:
The answer starts in a second or two. Press Esc to stop it, and ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace to hide Savyly.
Using Savyly
The floating window⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace shows or hides it. Drag its top bar to move it.
- Show or hide: press ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace in any app, or click — at the top right.
- Move it: drag it by its top bar, or press ⌃arrowsAltarrows while it's on screen. The arrows can carry it onto another monitor.
- Where it opens: each time the assistant starts, near the top of your main screen.
- Over your apps: Savyly stays on top of every app, including Zoom, Meet, Teams, browsers and VS Code, and over apps in full screen.
- At the top you see your plan and time left (for example Trial · 12:34 left), the mode, and whether listening is on.
- ⏻ at the top right quits the assistant (it asks first).
Several desktops and full-screen apps
Savyly shows on every desktop (Spaces) and over apps in full screen. If it ever doesn't come up where you are, press ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace twice: once to hide it, once to bring it back.
Ask by typingType or paste, press Enter. Paste a screenshot to ask about it.
- Click Ask anything…, type or paste anything (a question, code, an email) and press Enter. Shift+Enter adds a new line.
- Add a picture: copy a screenshot (⌘⌃⇧4ShiftS copies part of your screen), click the question box and press ⌘VCtrlV. Savyly shows Clipboard image attached and sends it with your next question.
- Follow-ups: Savyly remembers the chat, so “and its time complexity?” just works.
- New chat: press ⌘KCtrlK or type
/newwhen you change topic. Answers get faster and more focused.
Answer your screenPress ⌘⇧↩ShiftEnter and Savyly answers what's on your screen.
See a question on your screen, like a coding problem, a slide or an error? Press ⌘⇧↩ShiftEnter. Savyly reads your screen and answers it, code included.
- It reads the screen your mouse pointer is on. With two monitors, move the pointer onto the question first.
- Savyly hides itself for a moment so it isn't in the picture. That blink is normal.
- Want something specific? Type a short note first, like “only the second question”, then press ⌘⇧↩ShiftEnter.
On a Mac this needs Screen & System Audio Recording to be on for Savyly.
A question on several screensPress ⌃⇧↩CtrlShiftEnter on each page, up to 10, then ⌘⇧↩ShiftEnter on the last one. Savyly answers them together.
A long question that doesn't fit on one screen, a problem in several parts, or code and its output? Add each page, then ask once.
- On each page, press ⌃⇧↩CtrlShiftEnter. Savyly takes a picture and shows 📎 2 screens above the question box. Nothing is answered yet.
- On the last page (up to 10), press ⌘⇧↩ShiftEnter. Savyly reads them in order and answers them all together. The same page is never sent twice, so it doesn't matter whether you added the last one too.
- Or open Savyly and press Enter in the question box. You can type a question about them first, like “which approach is fastest?”.
- While listening, ⌘↩Enter sends them with what was said.
- Changed your mind? Click ✕ clear.
- It's Ctrl on both Mac and Windows (Control on a Mac), not ⌘ or the Windows key.
Listening and answering what's said⌘⇧LShiftL turns listening off or on, ⌘↩Enter answers the last question. Hears both sides.
While listening is on, Savyly hears both sides: your computer's sound (🎧, the other side of a call, a class or a video) and your microphone (🎙, you). What each side says shows live under the title bar, so answers build on what you already said instead of repeating it.
- Listening starts with Savyly. You see moving bars at the top of the floating window: 🎧 the other side, 🎙 you. If it's off, turn it on with ⌘⇧LShiftL, or click ○ listening off.
- Right after a question is asked, press ⌘↩Enter. Savyly answers it.
- Turn it off the same way when you're done. Listening keeps running until you turn it off.
- Each question is answered once. Each press sends only what was said since your last press. Press again with nothing new and Savyly says Nothing new heard since the last answer: press it right after the next question.
- Auto, next to the bars: Savyly answers by itself about a second after the other side finishes a question. It also takes a picture of your screen then, and sends it with the question only if the screen changed a lot since the last one it sent. Turn Auto on or off any time.
- Only the call, not you? Turn off Listening hears my microphone too on Get started in the Savyly window. Savyly then hears only your computer's sound, straight away.
- 📋 Interview report: when the interview is over and you turn listening off, click See how you did (or type
/report). You get each question with what you said, a stronger answer, what went well, what to fix and what to revise. - ⌘↩Enter only works while listening is on. When listening is off, the key belongs to your other apps again.
- English, Hindi and a mix of both are understood.
- Savyly hears everything your computer plays, so pause music and other videos during a call.
- Headphones and AirPods are fine. Listening needs Screen & System Audio Recording to be on for Savyly, and Microphone allowed for your side (macOS asks the first time).
- Savyly hears your default speakers or headphones. In Zoom, Teams or Meet, set the speaker to the same device (or “Same as System”). Your side comes from your default microphone; if Windows blocks it, turn on Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone → Let desktop apps access your microphone.
Answers on your phonePair once with a QR code. Your laptop listens; your phone shows the answer.
- Open the Phone page in the Savyly window, or type
/phonein the floating window. - Scan the QR code with your phone's camera. No camera handy? Open savyly.com/phone on the phone and type the 6-digit code.
- Pick where answers show: Laptop only, Phone only (the floating window stays out of the way) or Both.
- Voice, Screen and Deep on the phone do what your keys do. Copy to laptop under a code block puts that code on your laptop's clipboard.
- Android: tap Install. iPhone: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens full screen, stays awake and reconnects by itself, in portrait or landscape.
- If the phone disconnects, answers show on the laptop until it's back.
- Paired with the QR code, everything is encrypted end to end: the key never leaves your two devices, so not even Savyly's server can read your answers. The 6-digit code hands the key over through Savyly's server, so the QR code is the private way. Codes are short-lived and work once.
Reading answersScroll with ⌘↑Ctrl↑ ⌘↓Ctrl↓, stop with Esc, type continue if cut off.
- Answers stream in as they're written, usually starting within a second or two.
- Scroll with ⌘↑Ctrl↑ ⌘↓Ctrl↓ without leaving your app, or with your mouse. Scroll up while it's writing and a ↓ New text button takes you back down.
- Copy code with the Copy button on each code block.
- Stop an answer with Esc, from any app.
- Cut off? If Savyly says the answer hit the length limit, type
continue. - Code language: Java by default. Choose another (Python, C++ and more) in the Savyly window → Modes, then Save changes.
Practice interviewSavyly plays the interviewer. Answer out loud or by typing, and get feedback and a scorecard.
Practise before the real one. Savyly asks one question at a time and reads it aloud. After each answer it tells you what worked, what to fix and a stronger way to say it, and at the end you get a scorecard.
- Start: Savyly window → Get started → Practice an interview → Start practice. Or type
/practicein the floating window:/practice hr,/practice technical,/practice dsaor/practice system design, and a number of questions if you like (/practice hr 3). - Answer out loud, then press ⌘↩Enter. Or type your answer and press Enter. For a coding question you can also press ⌘⇧↩ShiftEnter to send the code on your screen.
- It uses your resume and the company and job description from Modes, so the questions fit the job you're going for.
/practice endfinishes early with a scorecard for the questions you answered./newstops it.- Questions are read with your computer's own voice. Turn that off with Read questions aloud in the Practice card.
- Practice uses your plan's time, like any answer.
Modes, resume and documentsChoose how Savyly answers: coding, interviews, meetings, sales and more. Add your resume.
A mode decides how Savyly answers. Switch any time: click the mode at the top of the floating window, type /mode (for example /mode sales), or open the Savyly window → Modes, click a mode and click Use.
| Mode | Best for |
|---|---|
| DSA & Coding | Coding and DSA problems: the approach, commented code, complexity and a dry run |
| Technical Interview | ML, OOP, operating systems, databases, networks, cloud, your projects |
| HR & Behavioral | Tell me about yourself, strengths, conflicts, STAR answers from your resume |
| System Design | High-level and low-level design |
| Meetings | Standups, client calls and reviews: quick points and a line to say |
| Sales Calls | Objections, pricing and next steps, from your own product sheet |
| Presentations | Audience questions, from your own slides and notes |
| Lectures & Study | Classes and videos in simple words, maths step by step |
| Dating & Texting | Natural, respectful reply ideas for chats |
| Deep Code | Hard problems and heavy coding (uses Deep) |
| Debug & Review | Finding the cause of a bug and fixing it |
| Custom | Your own instructions |
Your resume and documents
- In Modes, add your resume and up to 3 documents to a mode: a job description, product sheet, slides or notes. Savyly answers from them.
- PDF, Word (.docx), .txt and .md files work, up to 25 MB. The first 15,000 characters of each are used. Older .doc, Pages or Google Docs files: save them as PDF or .docx first. Scanned pages need to be text, not pictures.
- Savyly keeps a copy of the text. After you edit your resume, click Replace resume so Savyly uses the new one.
- They stay on your computer.
Custom
Write your own instructions in Modes → Custom and save. They replace Savyly's built-in style completely, so mention the code language you want in them. Choose Fast or Deep for its speed.
DeepThinks longer for hard problems. Choose Low to Max. Every plan includes a Deep allowance.
Deep thinks longer before it answers, for the hardest problems. It's used by Deep Code, and by Technical Interview, System Design, Lectures & Study, Debug & Review and Custom when you set them to Deep in Modes (they start as Fast). Every plan includes a Deep allowance, and bigger plans include more. A Deep answer that has started always finishes; when the allowance is used up, the other modes keep working.
- Deep can take a few minutes on the hardest problems. For live calls, use any other mode: they answer in seconds.
- In a Deep mode, click the ✦ High ⌄ chip in the question box to choose how hard it thinks: Low, Medium, High or Max. Lower levels answer sooner. The chip also shows how much of your plan's Deep you've used.
- Typed questions and screen answers use Deep. Answers to what's said (⌘↩Enter) always come fast, even in a Deep mode.
- When your plan's Deep is used up, Savyly tells you. Every other mode keeps working, and you can get more Deep in Plans.

/report | How you did in your last interview, question by question |
/test | Test my setup before an important call |
/phone | See answers on your phone |
/update | Check for a new version and install it |
Before an important call: Test my setupSavyly window → Get started → Test my setup, or type /test. About half a minute.
Before a call that matters, Test my setup checks in about half a minute that Savyly is ready:
- Savyly's server: that Savyly can reach it.
- Your microphone: that it hears you. Say something when it asks, like “testing, one, two, three”.
- This computer's sound: it plays a short sentence through your speakers and checks that it hears it, so it will hear the other side of a call.
- Screen share: it tells you how to check it. Start a test meeting from your phone, share your screen, and check that Savyly isn't in it.
Start the assistant first, then click Test my setup on Get started in the Savyly window, or type /test in the floating window. If listening was off, Savyly turns it on for the test and off again after.

Keys stay out of your way
- The answer-what's-said key only works while listening is on. The rest of the time it does what it normally does in your apps (like Run on LeetCode or Send in Gmail).
- The scroll and move keys only work while Savyly is on screen. When it's hidden, your apps get them back.
- Esc stops an answer from any app, and the app in front still gets its Esc too.
- The other keys belong to Savyly while it's running, including ⌃⇧↩CtrlShiftEnter (Excel uses it for array formulas).
Plans and payments
Plans and pricesFree 15-minute trial, then one-time plans from ₹99. Nothing renews.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Trial | Free | 15 minutes, counted only while you use Savyly |
| Spark | 1 hour of app time, use within 30 days | |
| Focus | 3 hours of app time, use within 30 days | |
| Sprint | Unlimited for 7 days | |
| Marathon | Unlimited for 30 days |
- Every plan is a one-time payment. Nothing renews and there's nothing to cancel.
- Every plan includes all features, including Deep.
- Prices are in rupees and include all taxes.
- Buy a second Sprint or Marathon before the first ends, and the new one starts when the current one finishes.
How your time is countedThe trial counts only real use. Hour packs count while the assistant runs, so stop it when done.
- Free trial: only real use counts: minutes when Savyly is on screen and in use, answering, or listening. Hide it and turn listening off when you're not using it.
- Spark and Focus (hour packs): every minute the assistant is running counts, even while it's hidden and whether or not you ask anything. Click Stop assistant when you're done.
- Sprint and Marathon: unlimited until the plan ends.
- Time is counted by the minute, not per question: many questions in one minute count as one minute.
- Have both an unlimited plan and an hour pack? The unlimited plan is used first, and the hour pack's 30 days only start once the unlimited time ends.
See your time left at the top of the floating window, in the Savyly window → Plans, or by typing /plans. Keep an eye on it before an important session.
Buy a planPlans → Buy → pay on Razorpay → Savyly unlocks within a minute.
- Open the Savyly window → Plans and click Buy on the plan you want. (Typing
/buyin the floating window opens Plans.) - Enter your email and a 10-digit Indian mobile number for the receipt, and tick I agree to the Terms. Click Continue to payment.

- Invite a friend: on Plans, under Invite a friend, click Copy invite and send it. Your friend gets 15 free minutes with your code.
- What you get: 15 minutes when your friend starts using Savyly (after their third answer), and 30 more when they buy their first plan, or an hour if it's Sprint or Marathon.
- A friend's code is for someone new to Savyly who hasn't bought a plan, once per computer. Your own code doesn't work on your computer.
- Free minutes from codes count like the free trial, only while you use Savyly, and last 30 days.
- Invite rewards are limited to 10 in any 30 days. Plans shows how many friends used your code and the minutes you've earned, never who they are.

- Optional: to remove your resume, documents, custom instructions, saved payment details, chat history and logs first, open the Savyly window → Help → Delete my data.
- Click Stop assistant and close the Savyly window.
- In Finder, open Applications and drag Savyly to the Bin.
- Open Settings → Apps, find Savyly and choose Uninstall. Windows asks whether to delete your Savyly data too: choose Yes to remove everything, or No to keep it for later.
Remove everything (optional)
- In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder… and delete
~/Library/Application Support/savylyand~/Library/Logs/savyly. - In System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and Screen & System Audio Recording, select Savyly and click −.
Your plan stays linked to your computer, so if you install Savyly again later, it's still there. To delete what our server keeps (your plan and payment records), email us.
Privacy
Your privacySent only to answer you, and not kept. Your mic only while listening. Your chats stay on your computer.
- Savyly sends something only to answer you: your typed question, your screen when you press ⌘⇧↩ShiftEnter (or the screens you added with ⌃⇧↩CtrlShiftEnter), or what was said when you press ⌘↩Enter, along with your mode's documents and the recent chat.
- It's sent securely to create your answer. Our server doesn't store it, and our providers don't use it for training. While listening is on, the sound goes to our speech-to-text providers in the same way.
- With Auto on, Savyly answers by itself when the other side finishes a question. It also takes a picture of your screen then. The picture goes with the question only if the screen changed a lot since the last one sent; otherwise it's thrown away.
- Savyly hears your microphone only while listening is on, to know what you've already said. Nothing is saved; only the last few minutes stay in your computer's memory. To hear only your computer's sound, turn off Listening hears my microphone too on Get started in the Savyly window.
- On your phone (Savyly → Phone), pair with the QR code and everything between your laptop and your phone is encrypted end to end: the key never leaves your devices, so Savyly's server passes it along but can't read it. The 6-digit code hands the key over through Savyly's server instead.
- Your chats are saved as notes only on your computer (in
~/Library/Application Support/savyly/sessions). Delete my data removes them. - If Savyly hits an error, it sends a crash report: what failed and where in its code, with the app version and your system. Never your questions, screen, sound, documents or personal details. Turn it off in the Savyly window → Help → Send crash reports.

Installing
My Mac says “Savyly” Not Opened, or that it can't be opened
This is macOS checking a new app once. Click Done, not Move to Bin. Press ⌘Space, type Privacy & Security, press Enter, scroll down and click Open Anyway next to Savyly, then Open Anyway again.
No Open Anyway button? It only shows for a while after a blocked open. Open Savyly from Applications again, then go straight back to Privacy & Security.
Savyly disappeared after a restart, or says it can't replace itself
Savyly was probably opened from the Savyly disk window or your Downloads folder. Stop the assistant, eject the Savyly disk, open Savyly.dmg again and drag Savyly onto Applications. Open it from Applications from now on. Your permissions stay.
“The item can't be replaced because it's open”
The assistant is still running. Click Stop assistant in the Savyly window (or ⏻ → Quit in the floating window), then drag Savyly to Applications again and choose Replace.
Savyly won't open on my Mac (older Mac or macOS)
Savyly needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) and macOS 13 or later. Check in the Apple menu → About This Mac. On an Apple-silicon Mac with older macOS, update it in System Settings → General → Software Update.
Windows says “Windows protected your PC”
Windows SmartScreen doesn't know Savyly yet because it's new. Click More info, then Run anyway. You only do this once.
There's no Run anyway button
Some Windows 11 PCs have Smart App Control turned on, which blocks new apps with no way to continue. Please email us before changing any security setting, and we'll help.
My antivirus removed Savyly, or the installer disappeared
New apps are sometimes flagged by mistake. Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Protection history, find Savyly and choose Restore (or Allow on device). Other antivirus apps have a similar quarantine list. Then install again from savyly.com.
My browser warns about the download
Open the browser's downloads list, click … next to SavylySetup.exe and choose Keep (Edge may ask Show more → Keep anyway). Only download Savyly from savyly.com.

Savyly has no Dock icontaskbar button, so look for the Savyly window. If it's not there, open Savyly again from Applications or Spotlightthe Start menu: a second open brings the window to the front. Once the assistant runs, press ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace.
Is Savyly down right now?
See savyly.com/status. It checks Savyly's service every 5 minutes and shows any outage. If it says everything works, the problem is probably your internet or Wi-Fi.
Start assistant takes a long time
Starting usually takes a few seconds, and once in a while up to about 30 seconds. The window shows its progress. If it says it's taking longer than usual, check your internet, click Stop assistant, then Start assistant.
“The assistant closed before it was ready” or “Couldn't start the assistant”
Click Start assistant again. If it happens again, restart your computer and check that your antivirus hasn’t removed Savyly. Still not working? Open the Savyly window → Help → Copy diagnostics and email it to us.
“Savyly is already open but isn't responding”
Open Activity Monitor, search for savyly, select each Savyly item and click ⓧ → Quit.Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager, select each savyly.exe and click End task. Then open Savyly again.
“Too many new sign-ups from this network right now”
Many new computers joined from the same network in the last hour, which happens in college labs. Try again in an hour, or start Savyly once on a phone hotspot.
Savyly says the Wi-Fi needs a sign-in, or the network is blocking it
College, office and hotel Wi-Fi often needs a login page first. Open any website in your browser and finish the login, then try again. If your network still blocks Savyly, switch to a phone hotspot or a home network.
“One step before Savyly starts” keeps waiting, even with Accessibility on
macOS sometimes keeps an old entry. In System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, select every Savyly entry and click − to remove it. Then click Turn on Accessibility in Savyly again and switch the new entry on.
Savyly says it repaired or reset my settings
Savyly found a problem in its saved settings and fixed it. Click OK, then check your mode, Custom instructions and code language in Modes. Nothing else is needed.
Keys
Pressing the show key does nothing
- Is the assistant running? After a computer restart it isn't. Open Savyly and click Start assistant.
- Is Accessibility on? System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility → Savyly on. If it's on but keys don't work, remove Savyly with −, allow it again, then Stop and Start the assistant.
- Hold the first keys together, then tap the last one.
Savyly's keys work, then stop for a while
While a password box is active, macOS protects your keyboard and Savyly's keys pause. Click out of the password box. In Terminal, turn off Terminal → Secure Keyboard Entry. If it continues, Stop and Start the assistant.
While an app running as administrator is in front, Windows doesn't pass some keys to other apps. Click a normal window first. If it continues, Stop and Start the assistant.
The answer-what's-said key does nothing
⌘↩Enter only works while listening is on. Look at the top of the floating window: if it says ○ listening off, click it or press ⌘⇧LShiftL, wait for it to turn green, then press ⌘↩Enter after the next question.
My keys changed after updating
Since 0.3.2, Savyly has easier keys: listening on or off is now ⌘⇧LShiftL, and answering what's said is ⌘↩Enter. Scrolling is Ctrl↑ Ctrl↓ and moving is Altarrows. The Savyly window → Shortcuts always shows your current keys.
A Savyly key stops a key I use in another app
- ⌘↩Enter is Savyly's only while listening is on. Turn listening off and your app gets it back.
- The scroll and move keys are Savyly's only while it's on screen. Hide Savyly and your apps get them back, like Alt+← for Back in a browser.
- ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace, ⌘⇧↩ShiftEnter, ⌘⇧LShiftL and ⌃⇧↩CtrlShiftEnter are Savyly's while it's running (for example, ⌘⇧L in VS Code, or ⌃⇧↩ for array formulas in Excel). Win+Shift+Space also switches keyboard language in Windows; use Win+Space for that instead. Excel uses Ctrl+Shift+Enter for array formulas; while Savyly is running, that key adds a screen instead.
I started typing, but the text went into my other app
Savyly shows itself without taking the keyboard away from your call or editor. Click once in Ask anything…, then type.
Esc doesn't hide the window
Esc hides the window only when you've clicked into it. From another app, Esc only stops a running answer. To hide Savyly from anywhere, press ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace.
Can I change a shortcut?
Not from the app yet. If a key clashes with something you need, email us and we'll help you change it.
The window
Savyly doesn't come up on the desktop I'm on
Since 0.3.3, Savyly shows on every desktop and over apps in full screen. If it still doesn't come up, press ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace twice: once to hide it, once to bring it back. On an older version, update first.
If ⌘↑ or ⌘↓ stop working in another app, Savyly is open (it scrolls its answer with them). Press ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace to hide it.
Moving the window switches my desktop instead
macOS also uses ⌃arrows to switch desktops. Drag Savyly by its top bar instead, or turn off those shortcuts in System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → Mission Control.
I can't find the floating window
- Press ⌘⇧SpaceShiftSpace. If nothing shows, press it again.
- If it was on a monitor you unplugged, press ⌃→Alt→ once and it snaps back onto your screen.
- Still lost? Click Stop assistant, then Start assistant. It reopens near the top of your main screen.
The window is hard to read over my screen
The floating window is slightly see-through. Move it over a plain part of your screen, like an empty area or a dark background.
The top of the window says “Offline”
Savyly couldn't check in for a moment. Check your internet; it fixes itself within a minute or two. Answers may still work meanwhile.
I see two Savyly items in Activity MonitorTask Manager
That's normal: one is the Savyly window, the other is the assistant. On a Mac a third, savyly-audio, runs while listening is on.
Answers
The screen answer is about the wrong thing, or Savyly can't see my screen
- Make sure Screen & System Audio Recording is on for Savyly in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Then click Restart assistant in the Savyly window (or Stop, then Start). Without it, Savyly tells you it needs that permission.
- With two monitors, Savyly reads the one your mouse pointer is on. Move the pointer onto the question first.
- Some protected videos and secure apps come out black in screenshots. Type the question instead.
- Lots on screen? Type a short note first, like “answer the question on the left”.
Savyly says “Nothing new heard” or “hasn't heard a question yet”
- Nothing new heard: each question is answered once, and Savyly already answered everything said since your last press. Press ⌘↩Enter right after the next question, or type a follow-up.
- Hasn't heard a question yet: nothing was heard since listening started. Check that the call or video is playing sound on this computer, and that listening was on before the question.
Listening is green but doesn't hear the call or video
- Screen & System Audio Recording must be on for Savyly. After switching it on, click Restart assistant.
- Savyly hears your default output. In Zoom, Teams or Meet, set the speaker to “Same as System”, or make the device you're listening on the default (Settings → System → Sound → Output).
- Bluetooth headsets often switch to a separate “Hands-Free” device during calls. Use wired headphones, or make that device the default during the call.
- Your microphone counts as you, so a question asked aloud in the room, without a call, is taken as yours and usually isn't answered. Type it instead.
- On some college or office Wi-Fi, listening can't connect. Try a phone hotspot.
Listening turned itself off
Savyly turns listening off only when it can't continue: your time is used up, or it lost your computer's sound. The message in the floating window tells you which. Turn it on again; if it happens again, Stop and Start the assistant. For time, see Plans.
The answer stopped halfway
Type continue and Savyly carries on from where it stopped. If it says the connection dropped, check your internet and try again.
The first answer is slow, or says the server is waking up
Once in a while, Savyly's server needs about 30 seconds to wake up. Wait a moment and it answers; the next ones are quick.
“Savyly is busy right now” or “Still answering”
Press Esc to stop the current answer, wait a few seconds, then ask again. Pressing the keys many times quickly can cause this.
“That question couldn't be sent”
The chat got too big, usually from many pictures. Press ⌘KCtrlK to start a new chat, or send fewer pictures.
“Savyly can't answer this one”
Some questions can't be answered as written. Ask it a different way, or with more context.
Deep is slow, or says Deep is used up
Deep thinks for a minute or more on purpose, and a few minutes on the hardest problems. For quicker answers, choose a lower level in the ✦ chip, or use any other mode. When your plan's Deep is used up, every other mode keeps working, and you can get more Deep in Plans.
My resume or document won't add
- Use a PDF, Word (.docx), .txt or .md file under 25 MB.
- Scanned pages or images have no text to read: save them as a text PDF or copy the text into a .txt file.
- Password-protected files: remove the password first.
- Each mode takes up to 3 documents. Remove one to add another.
Custom mode asks for instructions first
Open the Savyly window → Modes → Custom, write how you want Savyly to answer, and click Save.
Plans and payments
My free trial ended
Open the Savyly window → Plans and choose a plan. Spark gives you an hour to try more, and Sprint is unlimited for a week (see Plans and prices).
My hours ran out faster than I expected
Spark and Focus count every minute the assistant is running, even while it's hidden. Click Stop assistant (or ⏻ → Quit) whenever you're done. Hours also need to be used within 30 days of buying.
The payment page didn't open
Check your internet and click Buy again; it can take a few seconds. Also look for a new tab in your browser, which may have opened behind Savyly.
I paid, but my plan isn't showing
It usually shows within a minute. Open the Savyly window → Plans and click Refresh. If it still isn't active after 30 minutes, email support@savyly.com with the payment ID from Razorpay's email or SMS, and we'll start it.
Money was taken but the payment failed
Razorpay or your bank usually returns it by itself within 5 to 7 working days. If it doesn't, email us with the details.
I was charged twice
Email support@savyly.com as soon as you can (ideally within 7 days) with both payment IDs, and we'll refund the extra charge.
My phone number isn't accepted
Enter a 10-digit Indian mobile number, like 98765 43210 (+91 is fine). Outside India? Email us and we'll help you buy.
I got a new computer, and my plan is gone
Your plan belongs to the computer it was used on. Install Savyly on the new computer and open it once, then email support@savyly.com from the email you paid with, with Copy diagnostics from the new computer, and we'll move it.
Updating
I don't see an Update button
It appears a few seconds after the Savyly window opens, only when a newer version exists, and only from version 0.3.2. Check your version at the bottom left of the Savyly window; from 0.3.5, Check for updates next to it checks right away. If it's older than the one on savyly.com, download and install it from there.
The update didn't work
- Check your internet and try again.
- If Savyly says it can't replace itself, it's running from the download instead of Applications. Drag it into Applications, open it from there and update again.
- If Savyly reopened but is still the old version, your antivirus may have blocked the installer. Download SavylySetup.exe from savyly.com and run it.
- Otherwise download the newest version from savyly.com and install it over the old one. Your plan and settings stay.
The savyly command isn't found
Open a new TerminalCommand Prompt or PowerShell window: windows that were already open don't know the command yet. Still missing? Open the Savyly window → Get started → Use Terminal instead and click Set up the savyly command. It works in the standard Mac Terminal shell (zsh).
Still stuck? We're here.
Email support@savyly.com or call +91 89699 46393, Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm IST.
It helps to add a few details: in the Savyly window → Help, click Copy diagnostics and paste it into your email. It has no personal details.
This guide is for Savyly 0.3.5.
